Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino betting is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights many conveniences in addition to the casino, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
